The James Webb Space Telescope is an international project between Europe, The United States, and Canada.
It is scheduled for launch in December of 2018, and should be fully functional in early 2019. It's 6.5
meter Primary Mirror and suite of scientific instruments will enable the world to see the universe with a
clarity that has never before been possible. It will rewrite textbooks.
This presentation will discuss the importance of instrumentation in scientific discovery. A close look at
the design and construction of JWST will be presented, along with a description of some of the scientific
goals and objectives.
