In this talk we present some of our recent results and further initiatives related to instrumentation development and
telescope automation in Konkoly Observatory. All of these are some kind of spin-off projects yielded by the development
of the Fly's Eye camera system. Our presentation covers topics related to the application of accelerometers in telescope
control systems, the current status of a geodesic digital zenith camera, an all-sky camera design and its successor
initiative: the "mosaic array of numerous ultrasmall lens", and our plans to design a camera for the Schmidt telescope
having 12 square degrees of net field of view. We also present a nice toy which is capable to demonstrate how
far-infrared imaging detectors do work in practice.
